Colonial Park's first meeting of the new decade was a memorable one. Chief Shields gave his final Fire Chief's report after giving them every month for 15 years. With all nominations for elected offices being uncontested, Chief Shields asked that he be allowed to pass command to Fire Chief Tom Swank. Hearing no objections from the body, Chief Shields thanked the department for the privilege, honor, and memories of being able to serve as Fire Chief for 15 years and said it would be an experience he would never forget. Chief Shields then passed the fire chief's seat to Chief Swank and took a seat with the rest of the department. Chief Swank presented Chief Shields with a gift of appreciation from the department for all his years of service as Fire Chief. Ben Shields will still remain active as a driver and firefighter, and was also elected as the member at large for the Lower Paxton Township Fireman's Relief Association.
